When Will the LED Display Really Become Common-cathode and Energy-saving?

New technologies and new products are launched from time to time, which is conducive to stimulating new demand for the industry. In terms of Common Anode technology, since the birth of the LED display, the power supply has used Common Anode technology. Due to high power consumption and end users and the country’s demand for energy saving, LED screen companies have also been improving the energy-saving effect of Common Anode technology. After years of development and improvement, the energy-saving effect of the Common Anode technology can also achieve quite good results, and the current market is mainly based on Common Anode technology. Although the energy-saving Common Cathode technology is not bad, it is relatively new, so the corresponding industrial chain and supporting facilities are not yet complete, and mass production is not yet possible. Thus, its cost competitiveness is low. In the face of such a situation, the layout and development of the whole industry need to be promoted together to accelerate the rapid maturity of common cathode energy-saving products. In addition, from the common cathode energy-saving products released by various companies, the common cathode energy-saving products with COB packaging technology are mostly used in the field of display screens with small dot pitch. From a technical perspective, key technologies of energy-saving common cathode such as small current precision and consistency, low ash and high brush processing are more suitable for fine-pitch LED displays. Therefore, in combination with the future development trend of ultra-high-definition displays, placing common cathode energy-saving products with a smaller dot pitch is the best policy in the future.

2. Fear of energy saving CommonCathode technology patent

Whether it is from the perspective of energy saving and emission reduction, or from the perspective of driving new demands in the LED display industry, Common Cathode technology is quite good. Although the display of LED displays is becoming more and more exquisite, the high power consumption accompanying the development of the industry has always been the headache of the industry. However, the opening of this technology has played an important role in promoting the development of the LED display industry in the direction of energy saving. To our regret, the patent for this technology is abroad. Only one company in China has been authorized, and it has not been open to the outside world for a long time. It was not open to the outside world until nearly a year. Although the technology has been opened up, it is limited to the Chinese market. Once the product is sold to other countries, copyright and patent infringement litigation problems are most likely to arise. Most of the LED display companies in China are export-oriented companies, and their products are sold all over the world. If companies want to adopt energy-saving Common Cathode technology, the overseas market for this technology needs to be temporarily abandoned. And in China, many enterprises are seeking for new development opportunities and are deploying energy-saving common cathode, leading to relatively fierce market competition. Therefore, enterprises must seize the market with products that emphasize both speed and quality.

Although patents are highly valued at home and abroad, LED screen companies must also know how to protect their rights, they should actively search for public information and related technologies of Common Cathode technology, find favorable conditions for using Common Cathode technology, and improve its usage. Of course, there are more than one energy-saving methods, which require the hard work and research and development of LED screen companies.It is hoped that the next energy-saving technology to be in the hands of Chinese people.

To sum up, there is still a long way to go for energy-saving Common Cathode technology to enter the industry. According to the current national policies and the development needs of LED displays, energy-saving products are the general trend, and it is understandable for enterprises to deploy energy-saving Common Cathode technology. However, companies should also objectively look at the difficulties of this technology’s entering the industry. Whether the industry is mature, whether the production cost can be afforded and whether the payback period can be afforded should be weighed according to the company's own situation with objectively analyzing, and choosing the most suitable development path, instead of going with the tide.
